What is the effect of hydrated salts on the various parameters of chromatography ? i.e if I use tri hydrated salt instead of mono, what is its impact on analysis?

I do not think it will give effect to chromatography parameters. It will affect to preparation method due to different physical properties (ie, solubility, hygroscopic degree).

Hi ,
I guess there should not be any affect on the chromatography due to change in the hydrated form of any salt but the parameters usually affected are solubility , crystal structure , bioavailability.
So i think there should not be any affect on the chromatography of the hydrated salts.

Difference in hydrated form may effect your quantitative analysis results if it is w/w . so factor in the mass difference in your calculations.

Are these buffer salts?

If you are talking about buffer salts, then there is a difference. Say that you are using Sodium Acetate Trihydrate and the method calls for the anhydrous form. The differnce in molecular weight, 82.03 for the anhydrous and 136.08 for the trihydrate will lead you to weigh the wrong amount. You will only have 60% of the buffer capacity that you would have if you had weighed the anhydrous form. If you compensate for the waters of hydration though, once everything is in solution, there is no difference.
