Hello,

I am using an HP 6890/5973 GC/MS. The quadrapole temperature at times will jump up very quickly to 511 C and then shut off giving a quadrapole temperature fault. This seems to happen especially as the oven ramps, it will stay steady at 150 up until the oven reaches a certain temp and then it will start shooting up. I have checked the sensor to no avail. Has anybody ever heard of something like this?

Thanks!
I had that happen on my 5975. It would read correctly 99% of the time, the other 1% it would wander all over the place. A new sensor and heater fixed it.
Hello,

The quadrapole temperature at times will jump up very quickly to 511 C and then shut off
The 511C is almost certainly a problem with the sensor (open circuit)
The instrument I use reads 512C when temperature sensors are open circuit.
512 is 2E9 which is probably not a coincidence!
