Anyone knows which column is equivalent to Merck Polyspher

IC AN-1? I am looking for such a column commercially available in the USA. Thanks in advance.

Hi FatBrian,

I have had a look at the specs of the IC AN-1 and it is a polymer column based on polymethacrylate with quaternary ammonium functional groups. The only other column that I know of that is based on the same type of stationary phase is the Novasep A-1 Anion IC column which is available from Alltech. I believe there is a branch in the US somewhere?

The IC AN-1 only seems to be available in one dimension, 100 x 4.6mm so the equivalent Novasep A-1 column would have part number 51406 (for a Stainless Steel column). I cannot say how similar the chromatography would be for these two columns, however they are both designed for the separation of common anions and strongly retained hydrophobic anions.

Hope that helps!

Steve.

Thanks for the information, sball.

Did you look into Allsep Anion columns from Alltech? It also looks similar, and it works for both suppressed and non-suppressed modes.

The Allsep Anion column looks pretty similar to the Novasep one, same type of polymeric stationary phase and same particle size. In fact, the only difference I can see between them is that the Novasep can be used up to pH 11 (rather than pH 10 for the Allsep). The Allsep Anion might be a better bet however due to its capability to work in both suppressed and non-suppressed modes.

Steve.
