PE TC Publisher Chromatograms

Has anyone ever managed to come up with a macro for the TC Publisher bit of TotalChrom to allow chromatograms to be automatically inserted into reports? I'm sure it's simple to do but this is Total Chrom we're dealing with so you never can tell!

It's easy enough to manually insert one but that kind of misses the point of automatically generating reports!

You should be able to export as an ANDI file ("AIA" file) and then use something like ChromMerge to insert/display in your document (http://www.chrommerge.com/).

Do you want to include a chromatogram in a normal report (.rpt) or do you want to create a TC Publisher method with chromatogram? Both are possible, please let me know. I can send you a TC publisher method that shows how it works if you want.

It's also possible to create EMF-files with your chromatograms. These EMF's can be read by other programs (like MS Powerpoint).

This is a part of TotalChrom that works!

Currently I have methods set up that spit out the standard report. Our girls in QC have never liked the Cap-GC as everything passed when we used to use packed columns. To help convert it back into a YES/NO machine for them I created a TC Publisher report (.tpm) to give a PASS/Fail/Concession result based on our QC specs for each impurity... They like this but now have 2 pieces of paper instead of one so now they want me to include the chromatogram for the injection as well.

Does that make sense?[/i]

OK, to insert a chromatogram on your Publisher-report:

***CREATE AN EMF-FILE***

-Open your TotalCHROM method, select Process-Optional Reports (This is where you have typed your PUBLISHER-method that should be used)

-Tick the "Keep temporary files"-checkbox

-Select "Plot settings"

-A window that is used to set your plot settings is opened: Select " Generate this plot, select a plot number (usually "1", but if you want to use different scales you need to use plot numbers 1,2,etc) and type the settings you want to use for this plot number.

-When you batch a RAW-file or sequence an EMF-file is now created, most likely in the directory where your RAW-data files are stored. These files have the filename of your RAW-file with a number added

***ADD A CHROMATOGRAM TO YOUR REPORT***

- Open TC Publisher and load your PUBLISHER-method and a data file you have batched after modifying your TotalCHROM-method
- Insert a picture block into your report
- Edit the properties of this block and select the browse button
- Type $PLT1 in the file name field (For Plot number 1, $PLT2 for Plot number 2, etc)
- Select "Open" and then "OK"
- Return to TC Publisher
- Select "Preview" and your chromatogram should be displayed
- Everything OK: Save your Publisher-method. If not: Let me know what problems occur.

Kind regards, Kevin

WooHoo!!!! :D

It works!

Not quite the same pretty, multicoloured chromatogram you get in the standard report TC churns out but it'll do the job!

Cheers have a virtual beer on me! :drunken:
