Triethylammonium Acetate by GC

I've received an odd request...to determine residual levels of TEAA (in an aqueous environment) remaining after HPLC purification. The requester specified this be accomplished by GC, as ACN would also would need to be assessed.
Is this even possible? I would think IC would be best route, but if GC is wanted, could one just determine TEA or HOAc by fixing the pH?
I have vague information from the requester, so this is vague, too. I'm just fielding the question about TEAA by GC.

That's what I'd do - adjust the pH high or low and get one or the other triethylamine or acetic acid. The triethylamine might be easier.
Headspace GC is a good option for triethylamine (high pH).

Note that these kind of compounds are annoying on typical apolar GC columns (excessive tailing, peak splitting,..). But i guess you're not buying a column for a one-time request.
