Some one knows what it is (cartridge holder)?

Hi, got this box with old HPLC equipment.
In it was this thing, it look like some kind of cartridge holder, it came with mostly Merck's and Chrom's various columns and cartridges.

I've tried and I can fit in it Merck's RP-18 precolumn small cartridge.
But it's not the usual Merck's cartridge holder (i can't connecy it to any Merck's columns or cartridges i can find.

It has standard female connection on one side (in flow?) and some kind of male screw thread (left in picture) on the other side wider than anything I have to connect to it.
I've checked Merck's catalogs, and asked the local agent (he's a young one)- but nothing.
Maybe someone has an idea or seen one of this before?

A check valve, perhaps?

It is almost similar with 4-4 cartridge holder for direct coupling to manu-fix (Merck - ordering number 1.15729.0001) - but I'm not sure. Please see Merck ChromBook 2nd edition, page 141.

It's a guard column

This is definitely a guard column cartridge, going back several years there were two makes that were almost but not quite interchangeable - the sealing surfaces were slightly different. I cannot recall who makes them, certainly they are not made by Merck but it might be Agilent or one of the independents.

thank you

than you for all the info,

tom jupille
- it could be some kind of a check valve, but it has a void inside.
syx-i have the ChromBook 2004, and i didn't find ordering number 1.15729.0001 any where, also only find this (picture )

but it has normal conection in and out, while what i'm holding has male screw thread going out.

I did not find it in ChromBook 2004 but in ChromBook 2nd edition, which published on 2002-2003. If you have the book, please see page 141. I think Merck does not produce it anymore.

It looks like a column menu card, like the once generally used for lichrosphere columns, isn't it?

I'm sorry, noam, I do not know. you may contact the merck representatives.
morningstar, the function is same as manu-cart but not with the shape, it has male screw.
