Area response as a function of flow

I'm working on a new RP-LC method and noticed I'm getting different area responses at different flow rates? I'm actually seeing a 25% reduction in area when going from 1.5 ml/min to 2 ml/min. Why?

I can give other parameters is required, but it doesn't seem necessary.

Area is a function of the analyte absorbance and its residence time in the flow cell.

To elaborate, peak area equals peak width times absorbance. Absorbance does not change when increasing flow rate from 1.5 ml/min to 2 ml/min, however the peak width decrease by a factor of 25% (1/1.5 - 1/2)*100/(1/1.5) =25%.
