Agilent 6890/5975 GCMS system on Windows XP which also has an FID detector. Anyone know offhand if I can have both the GCMS software and also use the regular Chemstation software to operate as GC-FID, sitching over the detector or adding a second inlet? I'll be calling Agilent soon, just wondering if anyone knew this...I don't want to run the FID with the GCMS software because of "compatibility" with a GC in Manufacturing.

You may have both ChemStations i.e. ChemStation for GC-MS (code name Mustang) and ChemStation for GC (code name Leonardo) - valid for 6890N and 5973N.
It's more convenient to control 6890N with FID with ChemStation Leonardo.
However ChemStation seems to me quite obsolete. Guess what I think about Mustang.
Probably that's why Agilent bought Scientific Software (for it's EZChrome Elite).
