Inlet trap on 6890 GC

Discussions about GC and other "gas phase" separation techniques.

Hello folks,

I have inherited an HP 6890 GC, purchased (I think) around 1999 or so (it is HP badged not Agilent) and has had minimal maintenance in the past. In the manual there is a passing reference to cleaning the capillary inlet trap every 12 months, but no specific instructions on how to do it. Does anyone ever do this? Is it easier to just replace it? A new one lists at $128 on the Agilent web page.

Thanks.

Hi,
See my reply on the thread "do you clean split/splitless vent trap"
Have fun with the instrument, you will love it. Don't worry about breaking it because the way the GC was built was to have "you" taking it apart in mind :)
