Hello all,

I have a simple question. We have a 5890 Series II GC at my work, and I need to change out our column. Unfortunately, the instruction manual was lost long ago (before I ever started here) so I don't quite know the adjustments (ie how much the column should protrude from the ferrule, etc). Does anyone know where I could get an instruction manual?

Or even better, give me the basic necessities for installing a megabore (DB-1) column?

I appreciate your help!

I'd go with 4 mm column protruding at the inlet end; at the detector end, push the column up until it hits the FID (a few inches), then pull back 1 or 2 mm and tighten. Agilent has a video showing column installation http://www.chem.agilent.com/cag/cabu/howtovideo.htm and check out http://www.chem.agilent.com/cpdocs/a158 ... N=99646943
Agilent has a good tech support online
