Penicillin in Feeds

Don't be too hard on him, Mark. There's not that many published feed methods, and none (that I know of) for Pen V.

That said, try JOURNAL OF AOAC INTERNATIONAL VOL. 88, NO. 3, 2005. It's Pen G, but it would probably work for V as well.

Try this :

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/quer ... id=1639899

This link leads to Entrez-PubMed. The abstracts mentioned there describe HPLC methods and extraction protocols for penicillin V in tissue samples. I guess you'll have to evolve your own method from them. Shouldn't be too difficult, I think. Pen V levels in feed would be higher than in tissue, and perhaps you can successfully adapt an extraction method used for Pen V in tissue samples.

Normally, I would have agreed with Mark, but Pen V in feed is not a widely published analysis.

Good luck.
