solvent effects

Further to the thread started by Khirth.....

I have found that when looking for acetic acid content using a DB624 column, the usual tailing associated with acid analysis on this column stops whem you use THF as the solvent. I know THF is a bit of an odd solvent to use on GC but it works well for this assay.

Sure would like some reference of general discussion on this solvent effect on capillary columns.

Is this (solvent effects on various phases and ensuing activity) proprietary and one of those things not 'advertised" by column vendors?

Or is it just generally not well explored?
