External vs Internal calibration

When should I know which type of calibration to use? Or what are the difference between these two. Thank you.

The short answer is "whenever injection volume or sample workup makes a significant contribution to imprecision". There's a more detailed description in the FAQ, but it's in the LC section:

It's stime to use an Internal standard.
