Chromatography Forum

Hi everybody,

I recently found this forum on the web and I thought it would be a great place to look for/exchange ideas. I´m teaching this separations course at school, and this term we wanted to design a lab session where the students could see the effect of playing with the solvent in HPLC (yes, that selectivity triangle for solvents). I´m looking for the perfect example to show in class. Does anybody has suggestions? Papers you might have seen that show a nicely improved separation changing the solvent based on the "triangle"?

There are lots of examples in "Practical HPLC Method Development" (Snyder, Kirkland). If you can find examples of the triangle on the web, there are probably test mix chromatograms using C18 columns not far away.

Go to the Rheodyne web site (look in the "sponsors" area near the top of the page) and download an evaluation copy of their DryLab software (I thinkyou'll have to drill down to "products . . . chromatography software"). When you install the program, one of the example files is called "naphthalenes (LC ternary).dlb". You can change the composition with a slider and actually watch the peaks move around.
