SEC test method

I'm performing the SEC test method. The current processing method use linear curve, and only 4 points, is it correct? I wonder that does it need to be used the 3rd order polynomial and at least 5 points. If anyone can let me know how it would work; I really appreciate it.

I currently use a standard set of three samples each with 4 narrow band molecular weights in them which gives me 12 total standards. The curve is linear.
