LC MS/MS QQQ comparison: Agilent 6470 or Shimadzu 8050?

Hello,

I need an advice: we are in the process of purchasing a new UPLC MS/MS QQQ system, and it seems that we are going to choose between Agilent 6470 and Shimadzu 8050.

Which one is better option regarding sensitivity and robustness? First hand experiences welcomed.

Price is not an issue.

QQQ systems are going to be used in Clinical Biochemistry laboratory: so lots of biological samples (blood, urine etc.). Possible usage include steroid analisys, lots of TDM analyses etc.

I know that there is no sufficient information for good recommendation, but if you don't know where to start, write which one you would buy (regardless of initial price).

Regardless of price and performance I would go for the system/company that has the best service offer in your region..

Hi, On my lab we use an 8050 Shimadzu. The hardware perform very well, is sensitive, 0.1 microliters of injection can be performed. Another positive caracteristic is the possibility to do sim and scan on the same time. This is very use full to setting up the methods and on my experience i found it mandatory.
I don't know if Agililent can do the same. As sure the older Agilent LCMSMS doesn't not.
On the other hand the Shimadzu software is very bad. Counter intuitive and need a lot of training before operate. After one year from purchase sometime we discover again news caracteristics.

I don't know the Agilent 6470 but i think as sure that the SW is better.

My discriminant on buying from Shimadzu and Agilent was the capability of SIM/SCAN on same time and after one year we are happy for the decision.

The decision is not easy. Both hardware are high performer and Shimadzu lack in software but cost less than Agilent.
On the end the question can be :

I need to setting up new methods ? - SIM/SCAN very important if yes.
I use only validated methods in matrix ? - SIM/SCAN NOT very important if yes.

Regards.
