In my working group at Waters we have since several years developed SPE methods for plasma and urine samples or environmental and food samples, and we have developed very comprehensive protocols. I suggest to go to our website and look for the Oasis Applications book. Get the entire book, not just abstracts. It has some very strong sections with guides on method development.

We routinely use SPE's from Waters (both Oasis and Sep-Pak), United Chemical Technologies, Varian, and Fisher. All work quite well when used appropriately.

Phenomenex has developed in the past few years quite interesting stationary phases specifically for SPE.
Besides, you can purchase the SPE Method Development Sostware, a very helpful tool to select the adequate phase for you nalayte based in its chemical structure and a start-point method with a high degree of accuracy!

For polar compounds:
1. Dissolve in acetonitrile
2. Load and enrich on ZIC®-HILIC SPE
3. Elute with water
4. Inject on RP column
