We currently have a few 5890's that are running with either ChemStation B.03.02, or A.10.02. The GC 5890 we just purchased from an instrument refurbisher came with chemstation msd A.0.100 which does not support any detectors other than the msd, it came installed on a a 90 mz computer with a whopping 24 mg of ram.

As a replacement they have offered to send a copy of chemstation D.03.00-g1710da Does anyone know if it is compatible with a 5890 series II with an fid detector? I checked the agilent matrix compatibility sheet linked below, and it does not have the 5890 listed, but I don't know if that just means they don't actively support the 5890 with that software, or if it is truly incompatible.

Anyone have any experience with this version of chemstation running a 5890 fid with an autosampler?

I'm a little confused: you want to run 5890 GC with FID but were supplied with GCMS software? I believe we did have early Agilent GCMS software where one could select an FID on the software, but traditional Agilent Chemstation for GC/HPLC is much more straightforward for your needs, I would say.

I can supply on CD discs, reasonable, replacement Chemstation media; post E-mail address if interested and I'll contact you. You'd need your 10-character Agilent license. These perform essentially identically, just updated for updated versions of Windows. I have

G1701BA is the last version of Chemstation MSD that supoorts the 5890. That is what I use on Windows 2000 SP4
