software for micromass instrument

Hello,
I just purchased a second hand macromass ZQ single quad instrument with waters hplc system. The computer turned on for a few hours but then the hard drive died. I have not been able to restore the drive.
I don't care so much about the HPLC - it can be run independently and manually.
The question is, is there a way to get some software to run the ZQ, short of paying 12 thousand dollars to Waters for a new masslynx license?
Am i wrong to think a lot of people are having this problem?
