hi

we are using HP-1 (30m0.53mm1.5µm) column for analysing ethylacetoacetate in GC FID. In this we are observing peak tailing and an another peak. In wax column the same one behaves differently , showing broad peak. give suggestion to get good peak.

Use a high phenyl containing phase in your capillary column (VOCOL ?) and use non-protonic solvents if possible.

Keep your temperatures are low as possible.

good luck with a difficult analysis.

Mahs,
This has been covered in previous posts by me - see archives - and good luck. It breaks down to several peaks and also a peak which co-elutes with ethanol on DB624 type column (unless you use <160degC injection temp.). Peak likely to be ethanol.
I get 2 main peaks and fronting of peaks with DB5 type column at 250degC injection temperature.
Please share your experiences if you get any good peak shapes with this compound.
