When trying to edit a self created library by adding a spectrum reference through Chemstation. An error shows up that says that library is read only. This only occurs when using Chemstation. We are using the BA version on Windows 2000. I am not an analyst. I am the systems engineer trying to help an analyst out. Please forgive me in advance if I don't immediately understand parts of the discussion. All help would be greatly appreciated. This worked up until recently.

what is meant by

?
only chemstation can read Chemstation .L libraries

unless you are writing about a user created NIST library.

If you want to convert a user created NIST library to chemstation .L library
try Lib2nist.exe

http://chemdata.nist.gov/mass-spc/ftp/d ... s/Lib2NIST

worse case scenario is to convert chemstation .L library to NIST and then back again if there is some sort of file access privilege issue.

The Chemical structure and mass parts of the entry cannot be changed after entering, the other stuff can.

Can you create a new Directory (like ABC.L) and then copy the FILES from the existing library into that directory, and see if that works?
