Hello,

I'm new in GC-MS, actually I'm validating news methods for pesticides analysis in water and soils.

Someone kwnon any guide or maual (or web page) to guide me for select the bests cualifiers and targets ions for full scan and SIM mode analysis?

How many ions can I use to cuantify? What is the minimum ions needed to identify in SIM mode?, etc?.

Thank!!

If you are doing these analyses to satisfy EU authorities, I would at least look at the recommendations in Commission Decision of 12 Aug 2002:
http://europa.eu.int/eur-lex/pri/en/oj/ ... 080036.pdf

This has to do with analysis of veterinary drug residues, and not pesticide residues, but the general concepts are the same.

Of course, the classic paper on how many ions to monitor is SIM is Jim Sphon's 1978 J. Ass. Off. Anal. Chem. (61:1247) paper. Sphon recommended at least 3 structurally significant ions be monitored, with relative abundance matching within 10%.

Hi!
Agilent have made a book for pesticide analysis with pesticide mass spectrum with description of ion .
publication number:5989-0605EN (March2004) by H.Jurgen Schulz
This is a good book.
