Thank you both!
To answer the question about Prof. István Halász:
He was one of the leading scientists in gas chromatography and a pioneer and leader in liquid chromatography. He held several patents in GC and LC, ranging from stationary phases to column preparation procedures.
After he passed away, the Halász Medal Award was created in his memory. It is presented by the Hungarian Chemical Society for Chromatography and Separation Science. It has since been granted to leading scientists in the field of chromatography: Horváth, Guiochon, Engelhardt, Karger, Siouffi, Bonn.

Congratulations Uwe!!!
I was familiar with the Halasz grants for young scientist that they give in order for graduate mainly PhD students to be able to attend scientific conferences but not of the Halasz award. Are they giving out one per year Uwe or is it only when they determine that there is someone out there that should have it?

I do not know what determines the schedule for the Halasz Medal. It does not happen every year.

In this case it is even more prestigeous and of higher value. Congratulations!!!
