HPLC with ICP-MS

Good day,
I am wondering if someone can share experience with connecting HPLC to ICP-MS for chromium speciation in samples?
We are using ELAN DRC II and Agilent 1100.
Thanks,

Several years ago the company Knauer,
www.knauer.net, has constructed an injection system for ICP in cooperation with university Dortmund.
The professor run several applications combining HPLC with ICP-MS.
Maybe they still can provide you with some literature. Good luck

Hi,
Connecting the HPLC to an ICP-MS is pretty straightforward. Just connect the exit of the column to the sample uptake tubing of the ICP-MS (which should not be connected to your ICP-MS peripump). Take into account that your flow might be higher than your usual sample uptake, therefore set your ICP-MS peripump speed high enough to assure good draining.

Another way to handle the high flow is to put a Tee fitting between the HPLC outlet and the peripump on the ICP-MS. The ICP peripump will pull in what is needed and the rest will split off to waste.
