hi,
i am analysed valeroyl chloride by gc with db-1(30mX0.53mmX5.0µm). i observed two unkown peaks. the following is the elution order.
1. valeroyl chloride - 90% (rt 6.8min)
2. unknown - 5% (rt 7.9 min)
3. valeric acid - 2% (rt 9.2 min)
4. unknown - 1.5% (rt 13.6 min)

do any one suggest about these.
my question is that possible that injector temp(200°C) will create problem.(the same sample analysed in the evening the second unknown increased to 20%.)
or the storage conditon is the reason.

i didn't get any information from gc ms with hp5 column does it the reason hp5 not able separate the 1&2 peaks.(i have very little kn'ge with gc ms)

i request suggestion from the world of chromatographers.
