Problem with a GC MS from ThermoFisher - Inhibit RDY Signal

Good afternoon,

We recently bought a GS MS FocusMS - ITQ700 and we have a problem with XCalibur.

Indeed the GC is keeping saying : Waiting for. Inhibit RDY Signal and is never ready. If I switch the value on RDY signal from high to low or to no inhibit the GC is ready but I cannot run any sequence for some reason... When I click on the "play" button nothing starts...

Therefore I think the problem is coming from the GC RDY signal. I checked all the cables and everything is fine. The GC-MS was working well few months ago but when we turned it on last week, impossible to start the analysis....

Thank you for your help and ideas! (Ps : I'm not at all an expert in GC MS as you can tell!)

Hi Kev,

The handshaking settings are different if you have an autosampler or not, as well as some other factors. If you read through the FOCUS GC instruction manual, some of the defaults are listed on page 60 of my version. Please keep in mind that you can always call the 800 number (800.532.4752 option 2) and give the support team your serial number so they can help you out quickly.

Thanks! I wish I could call us! but it's hard when you are in the middle of Kazakhstan :)

I finally found that no inhibit and no auto run on the gc and mass works just fine.

Thanks for your help

Try closing Tune window before starting a sequence.
Good afternoon,

Today during my analysis the GCMS sayed: Waiting for Inhibit RDY Signal and is never ready. So, I cannot run any sequence for some reason. I turned off the GC and checked all the cables and everything is fine.

After some hours another message appeared: waiting for contact closure and not completed the injection. I don't know I have to do.

Thank you, Marília.
This can happen if the gc enters a ready status and then goes to an un-ready state before the autosampler gets started. Try extending the equilibration time on the gc. Also set the timeout delay on the gcms oven to a high value.
