Varian 3400 GC Error Message

Discussions about GC and other "gas phase" separation techniques.

Hello --

I recently purchased a used Varian 3400 GC on eBay (I know, asking for trouble). Anyway, I get an error message when I first turn the instrument on:

Power Fail/Warm Start Occurred

Any thoughts?

Unfortunately I do not have manuals for this instrument. It is a Star 3400 Varian CX gas chromatograph. Does anyone have manuals in electronic format they could possibly send my way? Or make a recommendation as to how I can obtain these manuals?

Thanks,
Aaron

I haven't worked with a varian 3400 in a while, but I recall that error message came up every time the GC was turned off and on again. It shouldn't be a problem unless you get other errors after hitting either the clear or ready button, I don't recall which one that GC has.

I have the same problem with an old 3400 I ressucitated..but I just ignore the message and proceed...and I have been using the GC without a single problem for the last 16 months...Touch wood!!

This is not really an error message - it is just there for information. When you press the Reset button it will disappear. If there is anything wrong with the GC you will get an error message with a code number - the meanings of the code are in the manuals unfortunately !

Good luck Peter
