Amino acid by HPLC-UV

Hi all,
I am setting up the method for amino acid analysis with pre-column derivatization (OPA and FMOC). This method is documented in Agilent website. The only thing is we already have a VWD detector, and the method indicates DAD detector.
I am not sure if I can use VWD instead of DAD for this application.
Could anyone help ?

Hello
With DAD you can collect spectra and than extract signal for any wavelength.
With VWD you can collect just one wavelength.
So if your method has just one wavelength and doesn't ask for all spectra you can use VWD.

The DAD detector has a much less sensitivity than a VWD, so there is an advantage.
I think with OPA there is problem with tyrosine, there is different wavelenght that for others amino acids. But if your detector can take two wavelenght at the same time your are good to go.

Thank you both.
I am just concerned about the sensitivity of the VWD !
I will try and see.
