Separation of formaldehyde from sugar mixture

Hi,
I have a problem with seperating of formaldehyde from sugars(glucose,
fructose, galactose). I can separate the sugars from each other by using shodex sugar sp0810(id: 8mm L :300mm) column. But If I add formaldehyde to the medium, Peak of formaldehyde overlap of the other sugar peaks.Formaldehyde is used as an antibacterial agent and to control the hydrophilicity of medium.

Mobile phase is water. System is waters breeze.

Is there any suggestion for my formaldehyde problem...

That column is a Pb++ form cation exchanger. There are a variety of other forms that can be used for sugars (Ca++, Ag ++, H+). I'd check with Shodex and see if they have applications information that might let you choose a alternative column.
