Capillary electrophoresis

Discussions about HPLC, CE, TLC, SFC, and other "liquid phase" separation techniques.

I would like to try to develop a capillary electrophoresis method for a product and I do not have any idea of how to begin.

Is there any practical CE development book or site where I could read about it (Like Snyder and Kirkland for HPLC)?

Could somebody give some simple advice about which capillar and what conditions to begin with for a very polar, small molecule?

Thanks in advance!

Kati

There is a monograph from Agilent "High Performance Capillary Electrophoresis-An Introduction" by David Heiger. This might be a good place to start. Probably Beckmann also have a similar monograph because they are the other big manufacturer of CE systems. Maybe there are some others...not sure who made the CE stuff which unravelled the human genome though.

There is a guide somewhere by Kevin Altria of GSK which gives a recipe for method development but I can't locate the exact reference. You might find this on his home page (his name is fairly unusual-not difficult to find on Google)

Personally I liked "Capillary Electrophoresis: Principles and Practice" from Kuhn, Hoffstetter-Kuhn (Springer, amazon.com $92.00). It is really more an introduction and quite old (1992) already.
For small molecules and ions you can get "Capillary Electrophoresis of Small Molecules and Ions" by Jandika nd Bonn.

Do a search on amazon and you will find quite a collection of books about CE.

Another good starting point is "Basic HPLC and CE of Biomolecules" by Cunico, Gooding, and Wehr:

Thanks everybody the answers. I will go to the suggested sites and try to find some usefull hints.
