hi all,
How can separation of ethylbenzene and m/p-xylene be achieved?
We do use 5MS column and FID.
thank you

Hi
Use a 624 column. You can separe ethylbenzene but m/p-xylene coelute. I think that to separe m and p-xylene you can use a wax column

Yes. You can do it on a wax phase. I do it routinely on a Zebron-Wax (60 m x 0.53 mm x 1.0 µm) column. If you're analyzing for these in carbon dioxide, you need to know that benzene and ethanol (a fairly common impurity in liquid CO2) coelute on this phase.
