Chemstation Sequences Without An Autosampler

I'm setting up an LC-MS system for one of my colleagues to use for reaction monitoring; for this, an autosampler is not required - two 6-port valves and a couple of isocratic pumps are used instead. One valve comes from the column compartment and the other is an external one. I am aware that using an MRA and a single make-up pump (for sample dilution) is another option.

My current problem is related to starting analyses. If I set up a method and attempt to start a run Chemstation throws up a dialog box asking me to tell it when I have made my injection - fine for manually starting single runs but not for automatically starting runs in a sequence.

Currently my thoughts are threefold:

1) Create a pre-run macro which fires off a start message (I don't know which units, other than the autosampler, can do this and there are potential problems with the macro unintentionally firing off when the method is loaded for inspection purposes). A related option may be to link the macro with a hook (still risky though).

2) Set a Manual start method which is long enough to encompass multiple analyses within a single run (wasteful of disk space but this can be done)

3) Plumb in an autosampler which is in the stack for cosmetic purposes only

Is anyone aware of any other alternatives?

Many thanks for your help.
