Effect of solvent on normal phase

Good day

I am sort of new to the world of HPLC, so please forgive me if my question might be trivial...

I am busy with a project, using normal phase HPLC with a RI detector. We work isocratically, using a 3% ethyl acetate solution in n-hexane. Will replacement of the n-hexane with other solvents (like n-pentane or n-heptane) increase the resolution I obtain on the current system?

This seems unlikely to me, and I hope to get a quick and dirty answer before I change the configuration.

Thank you,
Stephan

Small changes in the amount of Et-Ace should get your peaks to move around. Try that first.
