What's the optimized linear velocity and corresponding minimum H for capillary GC and packed bed GC? Trying to do some theoretical seps
optimization. Thanks!

Mike
optimized for separation or separation per time?

for separation using helium carrier, the general concensus is about 20cc/min linear flow.

for GLC with packed columns it is a difficult question, but I thinik most would say that 20cc/min for a packed 2mm ID column, 80cc/min for a 4mm ID column, with 5cc/min for a 1mm ID column is optimum.

Gas solid packed column chromatography is another matter altogether.
