Been without for too long. Can you folks recommend one? The prices are all over the map, while the specs are similar.
Thanks

We use a small handheld electronic rechargeable detector from Restek.

I have a Gow Mac model 21-070. It ran about $1500. I also have a Restek which cost about $900. I prefer the gow mac, I believe it is more sensitive and it has more lights and goes both directions no problem (argon, CO2, etc in addition to helium). I have disassembled and repaired it a number of times (loose electrical connection once after being dropped, debris and liquid sucked inside, etc) and it is in my opinion user-serviceable, a big plus in my book. It is also a LOT less user-friendly than the Restek -- squirrely readings, more buttons and things to screw up, proprietary charger, etc. Most of my colleagues prefer the Restek, it is relatively quite easy to use. The only issue with it is the power button is sometimes tough to actuate.

I'll give you another vote for one from Restek! This is the one I use now.
