Area percent on TCD calculation on overloaded column

I inherited a method which I am obligated to try and use. Viewing the main peak I can see it is not gaussian but has front edge leading peak indication column overload or method condition is not optimal. My question is this... will it make a calculation difference if a peak is front edge leading peak in an area percent method vs. a more symmetrical peak shape?? I always thought that really no matter the shape the amount coming out the TCD was the same, and the integration still would find the same area.
If you're overloaded to the point of fronting peaks, then you're probably not in the linear response range for that analyte anymore. This means your values will be artificially low. Dilute your sample by half and by 10x.
