Corona Aerosol Discharge detectors

http://www.coronacad.com/CAD_Overview.htm These are essentially a nonspecific mass detector (like evaporative light scattering ones) that use an electrometer to count particles (unlike ELSDs) that have been positively charged and nebulized.

Any users in here?

Please discuss your experiences and how well it works vs. UV in terms of reproducibility & sensitivity.

Has anyone had any issues using these with any particular CDS (2d order quadratic fits etc. as this detector doesn't really follow Beer's law)?

In the end, is it worth it?

There is a "comparison" of the Sedere ELSD's with the ESA corona aerosol detector at the SEDERE web site: http://www.sedere.com/USA/comparison.html

I cite the conclusions: "This new detector is available at a relative high price compares to LT-ELSD. Considering the poor performances and the non universal detection type, users may not shift to such a detection."

As with everything from a commercial website of course, the comparison should be taken with a grain of salt (although they make some valid points)
