GC - MS Not connected

Hello Chromatography forum,
We have a varian cp 3800 and saturn 2200 in one of our labs. It has been out of use for a while and for my graduate research work, I have to get it up and running. We found that the vacuum pump in the MS was bad and unhooked the MS and we are attempting to run with just the FID. However, this instrument seems to permanently showing 'not ready' on the display despite the fact that we have everything hooked up and working well. The injectors, oven, detector; everything seems to be working well but it still isn't ready.
I am hoping that there is someone on here that has some experience with this kind of problem or with this instrument that can help me. I feel like I am really close to getting this thing to work but yet so far. Any help will be very appreciated.
