Hi, everyone

I searched for this topic but din't find anything. If I'm repeating a topic, I'm sorry, I'm new here ^^

Ok, here goes the discription of my problem:

I'm trying to use the Triplus HS autosampler in a Trace GC equipment. The controlling program is a Chromquest 5.0 and it allows me to add the chromatograph and the detectors, but when I try to add the triplus autosampler (RSH) it shows me a message error saying that the program cannot comunicate to the autosampler. It didn't happen with the old turret, an AS.

Could you guys help me??

Thanks a lot =)

Not familiar with Chromquest but it may be related to how the sampler is controlled. The AS samplers are usually controlled via the GC rather than direct. Is the same true of the Triplus or is this direct coupled to the PC? In either case check how they are configured.
The AS turret coupled to the Triplus is controlled via PC (Chromquest). My problem is that the GC says the Autosampler is not installed but I can't configure the autosampler because chromquest show a message error when I try to add the Triplus on the configuration.

From the Triplus manual
TriPlus Sampler on Single Thermo GC
Connect the cables on the TriPlus sampler rear panel following the instructions reported below:
1. Connect all the devices installed to the nearest “BUS” connector.
2. Connect the HANDSHAKE MAIN connector to the TriPlus Sampler signal connector
of the GC to:
 The connector marked AUTOSAMPLER located on the rear panel of the GC in
case of TRACE GC or FOCUS GC.
3. Connect the RS232 cable between the RS232-1 connector of the TriPlus Sampler
to the GC.
4. Connect the On Column Actuator/HS Agitator and/or the On Column Actuator
connectors to the relative device if present.
5. Other BUS and DEVICE 1/2 connectors will be connected in accordance with the
Sampler and GC’s configuration.
6. Connect the Power Supply connector to the external Power module.

This implies your issue is that you should be connecting via the GC, not direct to the PC.
I checked the connections and all of them are just like you said.

And I have to apologize: I couldn't control the Triplus HS because I was adding, at the Chromquest 5.0, the Triplus RSH, that is not the same I use. After a lot of searching in the programm, I realized that I had to add just the Triplus, click with the right buttom on it and then open it. There were an option to select the Triplus HS.
Even after that, when I try to begin a sequence run it doesn't start. The conditions of the GC that were set are OK and the message showed at the GC is: Waiting for the PREP RUN key, and it just stay like that. When I click on button "autosampler" at the GC, it shows me the message saying that there is no autosampler installed. It is strange because when I turn on the Triplus, it makes the normal check of the Autosampler.
I changed the HS turret for the AS turret to see if the message continues, and it continues! I tried to start a sequence run and it started (with AS turret).

I think that the run with HS turret doesn't start because it is heating the syringe and the handshake (at the chromquest I can see a message "Equilibratin Method"). I don't know if is it because I have no access to the autosampler via GC, since it doesn't recognize the autosampler, and not even via chromquest, since it just shows the sets of the equipment.
Have you configured the GC to detect an autosampler ? Press the config button on the Trace.
If it runs fine with the AS turret but not with the HS turret it is most likely a method issue/reason.. Depending on the temperature you have set for you HS syringe it can take a while for it to reach the temperature and it will not continue before the temperature is reached..

Try creating a method with no washes, no or low temperature on syringe, very low time for vail equilibration and such things.. this should give you an idea if it is just a matter of something set wrong in the method..

Could also be an issue with the HS turret that is causing it to fail.. but I would think that would show up as an error.. I am not an expert in ChromQuest though so I don't really know what to expect in regards to error messages..
Kind regards

CE Instruments - I pressed the buttom config on the Trace but it shows me a messagem saying that the Autosampler is not connected or it can't rocognize it.

leadazide - I set up low requirements and I'm waiting now. Actually, I have tried it once, but the Trace shows me a message saying that it is waiting for press a Prep Run button. I don't know if I didn't wait the right time to it starts by itself.
