I have a compound that eludes at 8.541, and got a nice tall normal peak there, however the quant ions for the compound were not present so the compound was not determined in my report even though the peak suggests otherwise. What gives?

Do you honestly expect sensible answers when you give no information at all about what it is that you are trying to analyse, or how you are doing it ?
The more you don't tell us, the more we can't help you.

As Obiwan would say, "These aren't the peaks you are looking for."
If the quant ions are not present, the possibly the peaks you see in the total ion chromatogram are different analytes then the ones are are trying to quantify. Does the spectra of the peak match the spectra of your target analyte?
Is this GC/MS or LC/MS and what brand instrument are you using and what software version.

Don't you read? The compounds eludes. It's the famous elusive compound, no wonder even Leonard knows nothing about it.
