Hello

I have bought years back a GC shimadzu 14B and now i need to start working with it. I have managed to find the interface, that is a CBM 101 from shimadzu, i have its computer with its program. But cannot find any way to connect the instrument with PC. I know that is a very old unit but anyone who has it or had it maybe can help.

Some photos:

Back of chromatograph these two cables are attached in the interface.

Thanks in advance.!
Wow. My SO worked on one of these for years; I'll check tonight to see if she has any insights.

Just one quick word of advice: the radiation warning means that unit probably has an ECD in it. The NRC requires they get wipe tested every 6 months to make sure none of the nickel-63 has shed. I've never heard of one shedding, and even then the nickel-63 is a soft beta emitter which can't penetrate skin- however, it's an inhalation and ingestion risk. So, just as a friendly word of advice, if it's not been swabbed recently, contact your environmental health and safety department to get that taken care of before you do any maintenance on it or operate the instrument.
Hi
I've almost same problem here. I have CBM-10A controller for HPLC and same connectors on that. I'm not sure how can I connect it to PC and software.
Wish I had better news, but I am told she got the 14A (and therefore probably the 14B) to work with the C-R8A Chromatopac Integrator only.

Also note there's a voltage adjustment inside that, if you're not careful, can electrocute you if the driver slips. Something about a metal cage inside that may or may not be energized. As with anything involving line voltage, ensure the driver handle is insulated.
You see the ports named OPT-Link

it is 1200 bps serial port with optical transceivers.

There is special board for this kind of serial interface.
for instance like this http://dataapex.cz/product.php?id=hw-opt-usb.php
or original Shimadzu.

Actually this box is nothing more than 2 Agilent optical transceivers (RX,TX) and 1 USB-RS converter.

AFAIK CBM-101 has built-in ADC.
