Waters 2489 detector Connectivity issue in Empower2 software

HI There !!
Finding some difficulty to get connected with Forum right now. Will you please paste our issue mentioned as under:
We have Waters 2489 Detector and wish to connect with Empower 2 software. in Empower2 Configuration DHCP cansole we managed to feed the entries following the instructions. Connecting it with Ethernet cable into PC . We have Buslac/e card installed and perfectly working through IEEE interfacing. Since Waters 2489 dont have IEEE option , we are still unable to get connect Waters 2489 detector with Empower2 software. However, we found the serial number of Waters 2489 Detector sometimes with IP address 64.1.1.1. and 00-00-C4 (it is for Waters instrument) display in DHCP sometimes but still it never scan the instrument so that we may be able to make the instrument and run it down.
We checked with Empower Installation Management Guide IMG. OPGD as well as with Waters 2489 Detector OPGD but it seems to be not very much clear as far, we understand the manual.
KIndly guide us in this regard.

It sounds to me like you either need a newer LAC/E card with LAN capabilities (which means you may also need to upgrade your separations module to an e2695 with a new main board), or you need an older 2487 detector with IEEE capability. The second option would be far less expensive and easier to come by; contact me if you're interested in a quote.

Thanks for your technical advise.
But my issue is little bit different over here.Buslac/e is functional through IEEE we hv connected 486 Det,410 RI thru Sat_in, PCM and 515 Pumps gradient.Now wish to connect 2489 detector. As stated in Empower2 software and 2489 Det instruction we connect the Ethernet to Empower PC not with Buslac/e card installed in same PC for Empower2 operation.Then tried to connect with DHCP cansole in Empower configuration manager.
It indicates the serial number of 2489 and also shows IP filled 64.1.1.1 and 00-00-c4 made for Waters instrumentation.
This is the stage where we have problem. Because it never scans and appears in instrument list with 486,Sat_in,PCM. So we cant make the system.
My question is that should we require any sort of special Ethernet connector with one of end connects to 2489 ethernet socket and other end to BusLac/e serial port located with IEEE socket. ???
I do not have 8-port serial card.
Surprising to see 2489 works in Breeze2 configuration with same BusLac/e card. We have never experienced Breeze2 software. rather we used one of the old breeze with 2487 in the past.
But it looks strange how 2489 Det connects. May be its a special Ethernet cable ???
Kindly guide us from this detail. if possible. Otherwise this 2489 Det will be a piece of junk for us.

When connecting your 2489 detector to the PC, did you set a static IP address for the instrument NIC to the following?
IP address: 192.168.0.1
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

Thanks for help. Let me share. We ran the zip file of 1, 40 firmware available to download from Waters website. It worked well as detector got connected and displayed download status too. We have built in LAN on Empower PC. Going into DHCP CONFIG in Empower software setted MAC address etc. It comes with serial number of detector Autp MAC address 00 00 C4. Now we got auto IP as u mentioned too. We in fact feed other protocols in TCP/IP entries but still it doesnt scan 2489 and there is no sign of "e" on 2489 Detector LCD display. It is however confirmed that Ethernet cable is fine as it worked during firmware run and NET protocol appears active on PC taskbar.
Can someone input any other guideline after reading all above.
I guess we need some special Ethernet card otherwise there is no difference b/w LAN and Ethernet card.
Plz guide.

You need to set the IP address of the NIC you're plugging the 2489 into to a "Waters friendly" IP address, as mentioned above by Magpie. Do this and Empower should see the detector.
If it still does not see the detector after setting the IP address, check the installation log to see whether you have a 2489 ICS (instrument control program) installed. These are also downloadable from Waters, or use the CD that came w/ the detector (though newer versions may be available and may be required w/ 1.40 firmware).
DHCP use is not helpful when it comes to Empower.

Windows XP with SP3 never allows to install Microsoft Frame Network 3.5 which is a basic requirement to run down any Waters ICS or Driver Pack4 Depolyment Manager. We installed WindowsXP with SP1 and then installed 3.5 Frame work. Browse maximum links available but everybody have same question on forums that Waters Deployment Manager never ever to be easy to install unless you have good computer knowledge instead of being a good chemist. See link. This is compact edition of Microsoft Framework 3.5 never works.

Yes you people are right once it installed the Waters Depolyment Manger worked well and picked up 2489 DAD also gives other options for other ethernet devices .

Hi Tayyeb,
I am having the the exact same problem you mention in this topic. The 2489 UV/VIS detector is not being recognized by the empower 2 software. Can you please provide me with the precise steps that were taken to get this problem fixed. We are extremely frustrated at this point. I am not sure we are even executing correctly setting up a static IP address...Thank you very much for your help!
