I have an Agilent 7683b injector on my ECD instrument. It is getting a bit creaky in its old age, and I was wondering if anyone has ever swapped one for a 7683 tower, or vice versa... will it work with no issues? sit there like a lump? burst into flames? any help greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hello
Check document in the link below :
http://www.agilent.com/cs/library/userm ... enance.pdf
You have all compatibility information there. All you need to do is to check firmware in GC and sampler/tray and make sure it is compatible.

if you actually already have one on site you need to check its contact point.
some use a 'clicker' in the tower itself that the pole on the GC goes into.
some have a separate flange on the bottom that swivels onto the contact plate when in position.
also you need to check if it is set up with the sample sample turret (you can't swap a turret that holds 6 solvents, 4 waste, and a sample for one that holds 2 solvents, 2 waste and a sample).
also, depending on the interface with your computer you might even need to get a new card for your controller for the tower to plug into.
