We are having a problem with the gas chromatograph.

It continuously displays
‘EQUILIBRATING’ and ‘NOT READY’ on the computer screen.
‘NOT READY’ on the gas chromatograph screen.

The fault message screen gives ‘NO FAULT’

In the INSTRUMENT STATUS (FRONT)
COLUMN FLOW (ml/min ) showing 0 and not ready and COLUMN PRESSRE(psi) set pressure is 20 and actual showing 0 and not ready

If you go to – INSTRUMENT -> SETUP -> EDIT INSTRUMENT SETUP -> EDIT EFC -> EDIT FRONT EFC, TYPE 1 and do an autocalibrate,
It returns with the message FAILED

The gas chromatograph is a Varian CP-3800 Natgas C Analyser

can anyone help us to solve this problem.

Welcome to the forum.

Let's start with the most obvious; do you have enough pressure in the carrier gas supply ? Have you checked all the plumbing for leaks.

Carrier has enough pressure, 80 psi in the secondary , The other two EFCs are having normal set pressures .
Only this EFC is showing zero pressure and not able to auto calibrate also failing always.
Same like this we had a problem with EFC 4 and we changed that and then that problem solved.
Any suggestion to check this EFC. If you have any diagrams please include in your replies.
