MeOH quantification in NH3 solution

Discussions about GC and other "gas phase" separation techniques.

Hello all,

I have to quantitate about 1% w/w of MeOH in an aqueous solution of ammonia (28%).
Has somebody already develop something in GC and if yes which are the analytical conditions ?
Thanks for help

Any glass or metal packed column with a porous polymer Q or A or D or N or T should work fine, either Porapak or Hayesep, in a length of 1 to 3 meter, of temperature of 80 to 150°C with flows of 10 to 60cc/min.

I would suggest a Q, but any of the others should work fine if you already have them at hand.

I would suggest a 30cc/min flow rate with a 1mm ID column and an injection of 0.5 to 1.0µL. Oven at 150°C but cooler is OK if needed.

Injector at 180°C Detector at 220°C.

good luck
