analyzing LC solvents by GC

Hi,
I want to run HPLC and purified solvent through GCFID.
Im more interested to see the impurities peak.
Let say I want to run Acetonitrile using wax column with ID=0.25mm; thickness=0.25um; length=30m, do i need to ramp up slowly or faster?
How about the sample volume? How to ensure the impurities peak are not hiding behind the ACN peak?
Thanks a lot.
p/s: Im newbie in chromatography.
