CMC enzymatic degradation products

Hello everyone.
I will appreciate help on the chromatographic analysis of engoglucanase activity on carboxymethil cellulose using an oligosaccharide resex column (Phenomenex).
The enzymatic assay is preformed using 2%v (w/v) of CMC and I have problems separating the products of the enzymayic reaction.
I use a microbial enzyme and I need to separate the CMC from the degradation products before loading the sample.

Is it a method which used to work, or are you introducing it in your lab for the first time?
If the first mentioned, what changed? probably the column?
