Hey I'm a newbie to ion pairing chromatography, just wondering what are the normal procedures to remove ion pairing agent such as octane sulphonic acid from hplc system in RP separation? I'm aware that ion pairing agent is hard to be removed from columns completely therefore I will dedicate one column for the purpose, I want to know if any traces of octane sulphonic acid will remain in the hplc instruments, such as sticks to the peek hplc lines or hplc detector or pump seals after wash process.

Thanks for your input, any advise is much appreciated.
Enter,

Removal of sodium dodecyl sulfate from C18 column

in search box.

Go to p.2 of the thread; you will see a post by Kostas Petritis (and a journal ref.) that addresses this perfluoroalkane carboxylic acid issue specifically.
