I want to detect C2 or C3 hydrocarbons. I have GC-2014 Shimadzu with carboxen-1000 in my lab. I've read several papers about this column. I think it can separate those hydrocarbons well. However, I have tried to detect some samples such as ethylene and ethane, but there were no peaks in the process.
The procedure I am using is the following: Carrier gas He (30 ml/min). 45°C (5 min) to 200°C at 10°C/min (5min).
I use TCD detector and inject 0.2 mL of sample
Therefore, I would like to ask that is carboxen-1000 capable of separating C2 C3 hydrocarbons?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
