Hi,

I just installed and conditioned a new column for the GC-MS. Once I connected the GC to the detector (MSD) and pumped it down, I tried to tune it and it gives me this error : Tune action stopped: Gain and offset = 0 and peaks are too narrow.
The MSD does not complete tuning and the search for peaks looks like noise.
It is my first time changing a column and I was wondering if anyone had experienced something similar.

Looking forward to hearing from you guys!

Thanks,
Ms.Curie
Did you open the vacuum chamber to position the column or did you use the tool to set the column length inside the analyzer.

If you got the column too far into the source it could cause a problem like this.

Also what is your vacuum reading, if you have the ion gauge installed? It should be in the 10^-5 torr or lower.
The past is there to guide us into the future, not to dwell in.
This happened to me once, the entrance lens had become disconnected during pump down.
Try a different tune, Agilent tune files can become corrupt.
